Staff Challenge with Echino and Melody Miller

It didn't take much persuading to get the girls here in the shop to enter this challenge once Melody Miller and Echino were mentioned.

This first one was made by Mary, and just look how inviting it is!

Then Rachel knocked our socks off with this!

Sam then gave us these gorgeous pot holders that split at the back to slip your hands into. This would be cooking with style!

Clair knocked out a couple of small pouches. She lets the fabric do the work for her.

And finally, a simply sweet book cover by Mary once again.

So, what could you make with this lovely fabric? Have we inspired you enough yet?
You know, now is the time to start knocking out all those gifts that we usually leave till the last minute at Christmas. I don't think a gift made with these fabrics would be unappreciated!

Post a comment about the projects above or your idea for a gift, because I have some fat 1/8ths of Melody Miller and Echino to give away to the comment I like the most. Good luck everyone!

Happy stitching

  1. I love the simplicity of the book cover but I think I would add some solids to the mix to allow the pattern on the fabric to take centre stage and make some new cushions for my couch

  2. I love the typewriter pouch. I remember learning to type on one of those back at school. I can still remember typing aaa (space) ;;; (space) sss (space) lll (space)! Then progressing onto frf (space) juj (space). All the projects by the girls look great.

  6. Well I suppose I'm a wee bit biased, as I love my pot holders! But I really think Clairs little bags are just gorgeous. I'm planning on using some of the type writer fabric to make a cover for my laptop. I think that would work brilliantly well as a cover for an iPad too. I find something quite amusing about an old typewriter on my Mac laptop!

  8. Love the book cover. Would make great gifts for people who love to keep journals. I would give them the journal and cover.

  9. I love the idea of the juxtaposition between the typewriters ( which my kids wouldn't even know what to do with and a cover for something really hi tech like an iPad- I just need to get the iPad!

  10. Hi Gail! Your girls have come up with some marvelous ideas! I was thinking of buying a plain white T shirt for a little girl, and appliqueing the typewriter on to the front, and making a matching bandana. Or a kitch patchwork dog coat for my wee Terrier. Or how about getting a 'typewriter' font on your computer and typing your own bespoke message or name, or catchphrase and then printing it off to co-ordinate with the typewriter fabric... a nice personal touch to a covered journal. Gosh, the possibilities are endless! Vikki :-)

  12. Gorgeous fabrics, and that little pouch with the typewriter ... it is just divine. I would have to study the fabric and make a decision depending upon the creative wave which always follows a successful fabric aquisition! Ahhhhh, I can feel the beginnings now!!!
